Charter Steel in Cleveland, OH is looking for a Senior Operational Technology Systems Engineer to join our Automation team. In this key role, you will work closely with several departments to improve Operation Technology systems by identifying production and quality issues that could be improved or solved using automation. You will also manage software vendors, as well as internal teams, during the commissioning of new Operations Technology systems.

Our ideal candidate can be based anywhere in the United States and must travel to Cleveland during testing and commissioning of maintenance systems as required, about 2-4 times per year.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • You will identify opportunities and comply with safety, quality, departmental, and environmental policies, and procedures.
    • You will solve complex technological challenges.
    • You will lead as a technical resource to the business and operational teams for issues and projects.
    • You will serve in a supporting role to the plant and business operations.
  • You will support a 24/7-hour manufacturing environment as part of a team.
    • You will guide, coach, and mentor internal and external partners on design standards, changes to functionality, new applications, and best practices.
  • You will lead support of production technology platforms that exist within the ANSI/ISA-95, IEC/ISO 62264 standard.
  • You will lead the estimation and management for assigned projects.
  • You will collaborate with other OT and IT support teams as needed to maintain secured OT infrastructure for manufacturing operations and actively participate in Cyber Security compliance initiatives.
  • You will ensure software development lifecycle management practices are followed, ensuring documentation and revision control standards.
  • You will partner with Business and Operational teams to utilize technology solutions to support business objectives.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE FROM YOU

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or commensurate experience.
  • Eight years' professional experience with one or more high-level languages such as VB, Java, C#, and C++, C# for web, mobile and stand-alone applications.
  • Eight years' professional experience in multiple scripting languages like JavaScript, Python Script, and SQL script.
  • Four years' professional experience in database management and application integration.
  • Four years' professional experience leading projects with a team.
  • Four plus years' professional experience integrating software applications with physical process systems.
  • Four years' professional experience of modeling physical systems in software.
  • Two years' professional experience with MES, and manufacturing applications.
  • Training and professional experience in using DevOps, Agile methodologies, and environments.
  • Demonstrated contribution to building new processes, platform upgrades, problem solving, and supporting departmental improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
