About the role

Description:

As a Lab Manager at Covanta, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining cutting-edge laboratory capabilities to meet evolving business needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Innovation: Contribute to the development of new and innovative lab capabilities and techniques to address changing business requirements.

  • Standard Operating Procedures: Implement, develop, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in the lab, ensuring compliance with the Chemical Hygiene plan.

  • Analytical Skills: Utilize a variety of instrumentation, including GC, ICP, and Calorimeter, to generate comprehensive and high-quality analytical results.

  • Software Proficiency: Regularly use programs such as Enviroware and Waste Management to streamline lab processes.

  • Communication: Effectively communicate analytical results and conclusions with lab management and other departments.

  • Routine Analysis: Perform routine lab analysis on samples, ensuring accurate and timely results.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and troubleshoot lab equipment issues to ensure optimal functionality.

  • Supervision and Training: Provide training and certify/document that personnel with appropriate education/experience perform all tests and data assessments.

  • Quality Control: Oversee the Quality Control of all incoming QA/QC and bulk materials, ensuring the accuracy of laboratory data and reports.

  • Inventory Management: Assist with ordering and inventory control of laboratory materials.

  • Safety Compliance: Comply with OSHA safety and health rules to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Adaptability: Perform other duties as assigned, showcasing flexibility and adaptability.

Qualifications:

  • Laboratory Experience: Demonstrated laboratory experience with leadership or potential for leadership

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey analytical results and collaborate with various departments.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of industrial experience.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent is required

  • Instrumentation Background: Proficiency in instrumentation, including GC, ICP, and Calorimeter.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with EPA, ASTM, and other Waste Analysis procedures.

  • Detail Oriented: High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in analytical results and lab processes
