Machinist Level 3

Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. May be required to machine graphite, metal, or other material as required in Boron Nitride and Pyrolytic products.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently perform all duties of a Machine Operator such as drilling and tapping, band saw cutting, milling and fly cutting, Manual OD and ID turning, using pedestal grinder as well as CNC grinder; ability to operate CNC machines changing and inspecting parts print specification
  • The ability to interpret and read blueprints
  • CNC programming of basic parts.
  • Editing of CNC programs for complex parts. Examples include: aircraft and satellite components. Custom graphite mandrels
  • Design and machine of setups; may require the use of rotary tables, sine plates, vacuum chucks, and custom vises
  • Build fixtures for part holding
  • Set-up and operate all 3/5 axis CNC Mills, Lathes, CNC Grinders ,CNC Slicers.
  • Set-up and operate all manual machines (Mills, Lathes, Saws, Drill presses, Timesaver sanders)
  • Verify the quality of the work using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, scales, gages, comparator, and ultrasonic device
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Ability to train others as needed
  • Ability to work in cross functional teams
  • Ability to work in a safe manner and follow all safety requirements
  • Ability to work with and take instructions from Managers, Team Leaders, Engineers, and Schedulers/Planners.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5 years of machining and setup experience
    • Haas, Mazak control experience (Fanuc based) required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyman's card
  • Experience with Renishaw Probing systems
  • Requirements for Bid\Hire Acceptance:
    • Demonstrate proficiency in performing all of the machine operator duties.
    • Demonstrate the ability to proficiently perform tasks such as CNC set-up's, program editing, programming, probing
    • Prior programming experience using Solid Works and Mastercam
    • Experience with graphite and ceramic machining a plus
