Overview

The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) is seeking an entry level Internal Communications Coordinator with 1 - 3 years of experience to implement agency-wide and departmental internal communications strategies that engage and inspire employees. Such efforts will align with Cuyahoga DD's vision and will drive employees' understanding of and their role in helping the agency achieve its strategic goals. The nature of work will include, but is not limited to the following:

    Under a model of collaboration and in partnership with the Director of Communications,engage Cuyahoga DD's internal departments in the development and implementation of an internal communication plan.
  • Manage and maintain the main Cuyahoga DD Intranet page on Sharepoint and support Cuyahoga DD departments in updating and maintaining their individual department Sharepoint pages
  • Collect information for, design, and disseminate bi-weekly Catch Up with Cuyahoga DD internal newsletter and assist other departments (i.e., Service and Support Administration and Assistive Technology/Children's Services) in creating their internal newsletters.
  • Support the HR department in their communications regarding employee engagement and events.
  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across departments and with external key messaging.
  • Ensure all organizational initiatives are effectively communicated to staff using all available internal communications channels.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of needs and services for persons with DD.
  • Knowledge of community-based services and supports for persons with DD and methods of utilization.
  • Experience managing the Microsoft Sharepoint platform and/or other intranet platforms.
  • Knowledge of literacy and ability to adapt and tailor communication strategies and materials according to the literacy needs of others.
  • Ability to communicate very clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of Cuyahoga DD programs, services, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a variety of people and in a variety of settings.
  • Ability to work effectively under a climate of change and constantly changing requirements and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of computer software, including graphic design, video and postcast production software, and web-based visual imaging platforms and design tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and set own priorities.

** SALARY : The salary posted in the header is the base salary for this entry level position. It is the Cuyahoga DD's intent to pay a salary that is reasonable and competitive based on the market rate for an ENTRY LEVEL position.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or other related area of study required.
  • 1-3 years' experience in implementing internal communications programs on behalf of organizations required.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Cuyahoga DD's auto insurance policy and Board policies.
