About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Ohio Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp [OE].

This job is responsible for the regulatory reporting and inspection work for the Distribution function of the Company. It reports to the Supervisor, Distribution Maintenance and Regulatory Reporting and is in Brecksville, OH.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and direct a solid commitment to all aspects of safety.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling ESSS inspection activities annually.
  • Initiate follow up work for repairs needed in SAP (DX notifications) and release to CREWS.
  • Work with the Line Shops on repair work requests.
  • Utilize GIS/Gatekeeper Distribution Line Inspections (DLI) software reports to review progress of inspections by site and units for ESSS automated inspections performed with TOUGHPAD tool.
  • Assist in providing monthly/annual reporting to the Operating Company Management and Corporate Regulatory Group on the ESSS Program.
  • Assist in PUC desk audits of the ESSS Inspection Programs.
  • Assist in coordination of ESSS Inspection Program audits performed by the Corporate Internal Auditing Group or Corporate Operations Services Groups.
  • Follow up on concerns and issues discovered during ESSS activities. Provide support to Line Shop Supervisors and Planners with ESSS responsibilities to help ensure that all Operating Company, Corporate Regulatory, and PUC requirements are met.
  • Analyze and identify required follow up repairs from the ESSS Inspections performed by the Line Shops.
  • Track and monitor all repairs for each line shop.
  • Update records and address missing/incorrect information in SAP and GIS following ESSS inspections.
  • Retain all ESSS inspection records and documentation for durations as specified by the PUC.
  • Follow up with Mapping and Records group on any required GIS changes resulting from ESSS inspection activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory commitment report and monthly/quarterly reports for DOE and PUC.
  • Perform internal 2% field audits of the regulatory programs and recommend any process improvements.
  • Aid during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various off-site locations as well as FirstEnergy office locations, training facilities and customer sites, when requested.

Qualifications include:

  • Two- or four-year degree in a related discipline preferred, with minimum 0-2 years relevant work experience required. In lieu of degree, minimum 2 years relevant work experience will be required. The experience must include a basic understanding of the subject matter.
  • Experience with PC software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, SAP, geographical information system (GIS), customer request work scheduling (CREWS), power outage reporting system (PowerOn) is preferred. Experience with database query tools (Qlikview, TOAD, SQL) and experience using Visual Basic is a plus.
  • Understand the Company's Accident Prevention Handbook and Manual of Operations and practical application in the workplace.
    Ability to gain knowledge of: The purpose, function, and operating characteristics of equipment, and residential, commercial, and utility electrical distribution and control systems.
  • Understand and effectively apply legal and regulatory requirements as appropriate.
  • Develop, collect, organize, and analyze information from a variety of sources to develop reports and provide information on backlog and productivity.
  • Professionalism to work with engineer and management personnel, as well as interface and work cooperatively with customers, contractors, and the public, in a courteous manner that demonstrates FirstEnergy's rules of engagement.
  • Must have a personal vehicle to commute to various facilities and locations as required, possessing a valid driver's license.
