The primary function of this position is to coordinate with project managers and field operations personnel across multiple divisions. The Manager, Field Maintenance Operations will be responsible for overseeing multiple functions of the project scope to ensure on-time deliverables are achieved.

Basic Qualifications:

A Field Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day operations of work sites including managing outside contractors/BNSFL personnel to ensure work is done accurately and timely. Will be responsible for following work and safety specifications and must possess strong problem-solving skills. Candidates should be prepared to travel and stay on job sites for extended periods while working outdoors in all weather conditions. Adherence to safety policies and the use of personal protective equipment are essential. Experience with welding and CAD drawings to ensure train setups are completed on time and within budget.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage equipment inventory ensuring all equipment is operational and has passed any required inspections.
  • Responsible for all site activities including adhering to regulations, safety requirements, and efficient operations.
  • Promote safe work habits in all activities for all on-site personnel.
  • Operate systematic equipment safely and within guidelines and ensure all on-site personnel are following guidelines.
  • Oversee inspection of assets for non-conformance workmanship and modification requirements at various locations.
  • Supervise modification & train loading and unloading crews (both internal personnel and external contractors.)
  • Monitor and analyze welding applications to BNSFL products.
  • Monitor and maintain diverse types of quality assurance documents (examples: inspections sheets, repair records, field reports)
  • Set up fixture layout for efficient welding. (tip stands, bolsters, saddles, counterweights, etc.) and ensure equipment and site meet safety guidelines.
  • Maintain clean workspace on job sites.
  • Complete all required safety records and required operational reporting.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of train related welding experience is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in the logistics industry including train modification is required.
  • 2+ years of management experience preferred.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required, a four-year degree is preferred.
